Leesburg man arrested after allegedly pointing gun at woman in domestic dispute

A Leesburg man was arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at a woman who accidentally hit him with a cardboard box.

An officer responded to a battery involving 28-year-old ZAQ at an undisclosed apartment in Leesburg at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, they met with the female victim in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

She advised that Q came into the bedroom while she was asleep with her daughter, and he was intoxicated. He started to shake her daughter to wake her up, which upset the victim. She demanded he sleep in the living room, but he refused, the report said.

Q then laid on the bed with his elbows pressing into the victim’s body. She got out of bed to sleep somewhere else and began looking for clothes. While doing so, she moved a cardboard box, and it hit his legs. He became irate, and she and her daughter left the bedroom, the report said.

The victim ultimately decided to leave the apartment due to Q’s behavior. So, she went back into the bedroom to get her phone. He started to curse at her, demanded she get away from him and said she assaulted him. She told him that she was getting her phone to leave the apartment, the report said.

At that point, he grabbed a black handgun from under their bed and pointed it at her. He instructed her to get away from him, causing her to fear for her life. She stated she was not a threat and left the bedroom. He continued to yell at her and advised that his finger was not on the trigger, the report said.

She then left the apartment with her two children and called law enforcement. Her daughter told the officer that she did not see the incident but could hear Q yelling at the victim, the report said.

After giving a statement, the victim handed the officer the key to her apartment and gave consent to go in. Law enforcement tried to make contact with Q multiple times but were unsuccessful. Due to safety concerns, the victim agreed to move to a secondary residence that he was unaware of and would stay separated from him, the report said.

Q was arrested at 9:10 a.m. that same day on charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill (domestic). The Indianapolis native was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $2,500.
