A Leesburg man is facing a felony charge of battery after an altercation over his dead mother’s Christmas decorations.
D L 44, was being held without bond at the Lake County Jail after a judge revoked his bond from an unrelated arrest in November.
The new felony charge is the result of an altercation with a woman earlier this month which resulted in her seeking medical attention at UF Health Leesburg Hospital. Shesuffered a broken rib and a punctured lung, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman, who admitted she was intoxicated at the time of the altercation, said she and L had been in “a verbal altercation about Christmas decorations that belonged to their deceased mother,” the report said.
She claimed L grabbed her by the throat and she was unable to speak or breathe. She said during the altercation; they both fell to the ground.
When L was taken into custody, deputies noted he was free on bond. He likely will remain behind bars until a Jan. 13 hearing in Lake County Court.
