Hollywood police arrested a man Monday in connection with a deadly September 2024 crash that left one person dead and two others seriously hurt.
Police said one of the surviving victims was left paralyzed from the abdomen down.
PAN, 32, of Miramar, now faces several felony charges after an arrest report states he was drunk and had cocaine and marijuana in his system when he ran a red light at “more than double” the speed limit.
According to the Hollywood Police Department, the crash happened at Sheridan Street and State Road 7 just before 4:20 a.m. on Sept. 1.
Authorities said N was driving a 2018 Lexus GX460 at 83 mph on Sheridan Street less than two seconds before he ran a red light and T-boned a Toyota Camry heading south.
The HPD report states that surveillance footage from a nearby gas station showed that the light had been red for about seven seconds before N ran it, “barely missed multiple vehicles,” then slammed into the Camry and flipped his SUV.
A witness pulled N from the Lexus, police said. Another witness said N “barreled through and completely T-boned the red car.”
“This guy had to be going 100 mph,” police said the woman told officers.
Medics rushed three people in the Camry to a local trauma center, one of whom did not survive. The victims’ names were redacted from an arrest report filed on the Broward Clerk of Courts website.
The report states that a “confused” N told officers he thought he was at Miramar Parkway and University Drive, more than six miles away.
Authorities said a blood draw at a local hospital revealed an “extremely high” blood alcohol content of .233%, nearly three times the legal limit. Because hospital staff drew his blood about an hour after the crash, police said it was “likely even higher” at the time of the wreck.
Authorities said cellphone data showed N was in downtown Hollywood, an area packed with restaurants and bars, until about 4 a.m. that morning.
He’s now in the Broward Main Jail on charges including vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter as of Tuesday morning, records show.
If convicted, he could be locked up for decades.
