Lightning strike causes Charlotte County home to go up in flames

Charlotte County Fire responded to a house fire that was caused by a lightning strike on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Charlotte County Public Safety, crews responded to a house fire on Bermont Road in Charlotte County at 4:01 p.m.

CCPS said the house was on an adjacent lot to the Redneck Mud Park but was not part of the park.

Charlotte County Fire and EMS arrived on the scene and saw that the house was already engulfed in flames.

No one was in the home at the time, but two dogs were located inside. CCPS said one dog died, but the other is OK.

CCPS said the fire was caused by a lightning strike.
