Lightning strike sparks house fire in Seminole

A lightning strike sparked a house fire Thursday evening in Pinellas County, according to Seminole Fire Rescue.

Firefighters were dispatched at 5:22 p.m. to a home on 128th Way near 91st Avenue N.

According to fire crews, two people were inside the home when it was hit by lightning during a thunderstorm. They were able to get out safely once they realized their house was on fire.

No one was injured, but the house was heavily damaged.

The Red Cross is working with the family to find a place to live while their home remains uninhabitable.
