17-year-old motorcyclist dies after colliding with dump truck on I-75 near Wesley Chapel

A 17-year-old motorcyclist died Thursday after colliding with a dump truck on Interstate 75 near Wesley Chapel, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 10:10 a.m. near the 279-mile marker.

Troopers said the motorcyclist changed lanes and collided with the passenger side of a tractor-trailer, north of County Road 54.

The motorcyclist overturned and was struck by the undercarriage of the tractor-trailer, FHP said.

The 17-year-old died at the scene.

Cameras from FL511 showed a fire truck blocking all lanes on the interstate around 10:30 a.m.

Crews opened a shoulder to allow traffic to get by the crash around 11:30 a.m.
