Man, 40, dies after dirt bike crashes into SUV in Alachua County: FHP

A 40-year-old man from Newberry died on Monday night after his dirt bike crashed into an SUV in Alachua County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. on State Road 26, about a half-mile west of NW 266th Street in the Newberry area.

Troopers said the dirt bike was heading east on SR 26 as the SUV was heading west on the roadway. As the SUV began turning left to access a driveway, the dirt bike crashed into the SUV’s right side.

The dirt bike’s driver died at the scene, FHP said.

The agency added that a third vehicle, a Ford pickup, was also involved in the crash.
