Man accused of DUI, attempting to run from crash scene on Winkler Ave and Fowler St in Fort Myers

A man is accused of drunk driving after police caught him trying to flee the scene of a crash in Fort Myers early Thursday morning.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, officers responded to a crash with injuries shortly before midnight on Winkler Avenue and Fowler Street.

Officers arrived and saw a driver attempt to leave the scene, but he was quickly caught by officers, the FMPD said.

The driver was identified as IF, 20. While speaking to him, officers noticed F was showing signs of impairment. They asked him to participate in field sobriety tests, which he refused, the FMPD said.

Officers then discovered an active warrant for F’ arrest, stemming from a probation violation.
