A 30-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after police said he struck a victim multiple times with a golf club in Homestead following a work dispute last month.
Homestead police said officers responded to an aggravated battery call involving a kidnapping of the victim around 10:30 a.m. on April 21 near the 700 block of Northwest 12th Street.
The victim told police he was hired by the mother of Tavarus Travon Dantzler-Falconer to perform handiwork at her home and received a $2,000 advance, according to an arrest report.
However, on the day that he was supposed to start the job, police said the victim was hospitalized and was unable to work.
When Dantzler-Falconer arrived at the victim’s home later that day, an argument ensued regarding the victim’s absence from work, the report stated.
Police said the situation escalated and Dantzler-Falconer began striking the victim on the hands and then repeatedly on his back with a golf club.
Following the attack, police said Dantzler-Falconer “grabbed the victim against his will” and drove him to the work site in Homestead, where the victim informed him that he did not have the necessary materials to complete the job.
Police said Dantzler-Falconer demanded that the victim remain on-site, but the victim fled when he had the chance.
Authorities said the victim was able to identify Dantzler-Falconer in a photo lineup.
Further investigation revealed an outstanding warrant for Dantzler-Falconer’s arrest for another incident.
According to the arrest report, police seized the golf club and a set of brass knuckles after taking him into custody.
Jail records show he is facing one count each of kidnapping and aggravated battery with a weapon.
As of Wednesday, Dantzler-Falconer was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond had not been determined.
