Man accused of machete attack at 3rd-floor apartment in Miami-Dade

A 54-year-old man accused of using a machete to injure a man’s head and wrist was behind bars on Friday in Miami-Dade County without bond.

Police officers responded to the fight shortly after 4:30 a.m., on Aug. 10, at the Northside Commons, at 8301 NW 27 Ave., in Miami-Dade’s West Little River area.

There were several witnesses in a third-floor apartment when TJ and the victim allegedly got into an argument over a stolen gun, records show.

During the fight, J “armed himself with a machete and attempted to strike the victim in head with it. The victim blocked it and the machete struck him in the left wrist,” a police officer wrote in the arrest report.

J “swung the machete once again and ultimately struck the victim in the left side of the head, near the temple,” the police officer wrote.

Deputies arrested J shortly after 5:15 p.m. on Thursday at the Northside Station, and corrections booked him about four hours later at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, records show.

J faced a charge of second-degree felony attempted murder with a deadly weapon. A judge denied him bond.
