Man accused of shooting cousin’s boyfriend outside Wynwood restaurant

Authorities said B, of northwest Miami-Dade, shot the victim four times and also hit the restaurant, located at 322 NW 24th St., with bullets while a dozen employees were working inside.

According to an arrest report, authorities responded to the scene just after 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 28 after receiving a report of seven shots fired in the area and found the victim with four gunshot wounds.

Police said an officer applied a tourniquet and performed “life-saving measures” until medics arrived to take the man to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center for treatment.

The victim would tell police that B, who he’s known for two years, came up to him as he was standing outside and punched him in the face twice, the report states.

Authorities said B then told him, “Oh, you’re about that life,” pulled out his gun and shot the man four times.

The report doesn’t state what exactly he was referring to.

Police said the victim said he may have pulled out his own gun and shot back in self-defense and ran into the restaurant bathroom, where he dropped his gun and asked staff for towels to stem the bleeding.

Authorities said they would later find the victim’s gun inside.

Police said they located Borges just before 12:45 p.m. Friday in the area of Northwest 27th Avenue and 79th Street and took him into custody. They said they found a brown gun that matched the description of the one used during the shooting.

B, facing single counts of attempted murder, using a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting or throwing a deadly missile, along with 12 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, was being held without bond in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Monday afternoon.
