A 21-year-old man is facing attempted murder and weapons charges after police say he opened fire on another man during a confrontation near the Miami River earlier this year.
Jail records obtained by Local 10 News on Friday show YSN is facing one count each of second-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon, illegal use of a firearm while committing a felony, and unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public place.
On May 31, officers with the Miami Police Department responded to a gas station on Northwest 27th Avenue, where the victim told police he had just been shot at just after 6:30 a.m.
Investigators say the incident began when N contacted the man on Instagram, asking for his location.
The victim said he was later followed by a white Chevrolet Equinox, which pulled into a parking lot near the boat ramp near the 1900 block of Northwest North River Drive.
An arrest report states that the driver, identified as N, got out of the vehicle, pulled a mask over his face and fired about six shots at the man before fleeing eastbound.
The victim told police he was able to write down the license plate number, which authorities said matched a vehicle N was later seen driving in July.
Detectives said the victim also identified N in a photo lineup in September.
Records show N had already been in jail since Aug. 29 on unrelated charges, including driving without a valid license and giving a false name to police.
Authorities did not provide specific details about the confrontation between the suspect and the victim in the publicly-released report.
As of Friday, N was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on an immigration hold.
