A man was airlifted to an Orlando hospital Sunday night after suffering burns when a vehicle fire spread to a house in South Daytona, officials said.
The fire broke out on Yale Road near Calhoun Drive, gutting parts of the home in the 2600 block.
Police said the fire started in a Jeep that was parked outside the home.
“Witnesses saw the homeowner working on a vehicle, (which) ignited somehow and caught on fire,” a police officer said. “(Flames) sparked to the roof of the carport (and) ignited the roof on fire.”
The man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, but his condition is not known.
The state fire marshal will investigate the cause of the blaze.
No other details have been released.
