A man was arrested for battery after allegedly shoving his “sugar momma” into the shower wall of their room at the Sleep Inn in Leesburg
Officers responded to the Sleep Inn, located at 2476 Citrus Blvd., regarding a battery around 12 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, they spoke with the female victim and 35-year-old T D R.
The victim advised that she left for the grocery store to buy items. When she returned, R grew angry at her for leaving and initiated a verbal argument. She was told she should not leave while he was sleeping, the report said.
The victim ignored R and walked to the hotel bathroom to take a shower. As soon as she went into the bathroom, he struck her from behind. She fell forward, and her body struck the shower bathroom wall. She screamed at R to stop hitting her, alerting the hotel staff. She told them she was fine and refused their help, the report said.
The victim also stated this was not the first time this had happened. The LPD’s database revealed that officers had prior contact with both of them for the same incident, the report said.
Additionally, the victim stated she did not recall how or how many times she was struck. The officers observed a slight redness on the top right side of her forehead, slight redness behind her head area and redness near her left forearm. It was confirmed that her injuries corroborated with her statement, the report said.
An officer proceeded to speak with R who advised that he was sleeping and heard the victim on the phone inside the bathroom. He believed she was mad about not getting them a ride. Upon hearing the fact that she could not get a ride, she started to scream, the report said.
R did not intervene and ignored her screaming. The hotel staff tried to make contact with her, but she refused their help. They contacted law enforcement to make sure R and the victim were OK, the report said.
R stated nothing physical happened between them. He also advised that the victim was currently on psych medication for her mental health. They were not together, and he referred to her as his “sugar momma,” the report said.
A criminal history check later showed R had three prior battery convictions, the report said.
R was subsequently arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic – one prior conviction). He was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $5,000 bond.
He was also arrested in November for knocking on a woman’s windows until she came out despite her having a restraining order against him.
