A man accused of fatally stabbing his coworker at the Anheuser-Busch facility on the Northside was arrested Friday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
JG, 38, was detained after the incident and he was arrested Friday morning.
According to police, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Thursday on Busch Drive, and when officers arrived at the scene, they found 22-year-old AA with a single stab wound to his chest.
Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department rushed Autry to the hospital, where he died, JSO said.
Witnesses told investigators that Thursday was Autry and G’s first day working at the plant as contractors.
Witnesses also said they heard Autry screaming that he had been stabbed and saw G running from him. They said they were unsure what led up to the stabbing, as they did not hear any arguments or confrontation beforehand.
The K-9 unit found G hiding inside one of the plant’s buildings. Detectives took him into custody on Thursday, and he was officially arrested on Friday morning.
According to JSO, surveillance video of the incident appears to be difficult to obtain due to union rules that prevent video recording of the production floor.
JSO also added that workplace violence like this is extremely rare.
