Man arrested after attacking woman with hammer at NW Miami-Dade bus stop: Sheriff

A man has been arrested after he brutally attacked a woman with a hammer at a bus stop in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.

BRR, 29, is facing an attempted murder charge in Friday’s attack, jail and court records showed.

According to an arrest report, the incident happened in the 9600 block of Northwest 27th Avenue where witnesses said the victim was sitting on a bus bench when a man walked up and struck her multiple times in the head with a hammer.

The woman, 46-year-old CO, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma center in critical condition and later underwent surgery for her head injuries.

R later contacted authorities and said he wanted to turn himself in, and he was taken into custody and booked into jail, the report said.

The report didn’t give a possible motive for the attack.

During R’s appearance in bond court over the weekend, a judge said he hit O 15 times with the hammer.

The judge appointed him a public defender and ordered him held without bond.
