The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting in Madison Court in Fort Myers Beach.
The shooting happened shortly before midnight. Deputies responded to a residence in the 400 block of Madison Court when CG, 59, called 911 and reported that he had shot his friend.
Neighbor Tania Eroshevich expressed her shock at the incident occurring so close to her home. “Something like this happening is very sad and disturbing,” she said.
Deputies say they detained G and rendered aid to the victim, however they were pronounced dead at the scene.
“Our community obviously has been through a lot,” Eroshevich said. “And having a, I’m not real sure if it was a murder or suicide or what, but it’s very sad and disturbing that it happened in our backyard. And our neighborhood and our community.”
G was arrested for manslaughter and taken to the Lee County Jail.
The Major Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation.
