Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers say they have arrested the man suspected of breaking into college-age women’s apartments and exposing himself near the University of Florida’s campus.
Troy Baker Robinson, 36, from Atlanta, faces charges of burglary, false imprisonment and attempted sexual battery for two separate incidents that occurred in student residential areas after he was arrested Tuesday.
According to GPD, the first incident occurred in the Midtown area around 2 a.m. Tuesday when Robinson entered a woman’s apartment on Northwest 2nd Avenue through an unlocked balcony window.
Robinson initially lied to deputies stating that he was friends with and knew the victim, but eventually admitted the victim screamed when she saw him, so he jumped off the balcony and ran away.
The second incident, according to the arrest report, happened about three hours later when Robinson broke into another college-aged female’s apartment near Sorority Row while she was asleep.
The victim said she awoke to Robinson on top of her with his genitals exposed. To keep Robinson calm, the victim talked to him and made him food while texting 911 to keep him distracted until police arrived.
According to GPD, Robinson is homeless and has been booked into Alachua County Jail for similar offenses in the past.
On July 24, Robinson had just been released on probation after serving 364 days for aggravated stalking and armed occupied burglary, among other charges, for at least three other college-aged female victims.
He cut off his ankle monitor two days after being released, resulting in two active violations of probation warrants.
Robinson is in Alachua County Jail awaiting trial without bond.
