A man has been arrested following a deadly hit-and-run crash along Lee Boulevard at Hanna Avenue in Lehigh Acres.
The crash happened around 5:32 p.m. Tuesday.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers were able to locate the white 2018 Dodge Ram pickup truck Wednesday and arrested the suspected driver, L A , a 31-year-old man out of Lehigh Acres.
FHP troopers said they found the truck abandoned at a Wendy’s off Lee Boulevard and impounded it. Mendoza was found at his residence on Manhattan Street East and arrested.
According to the FHP report, a 26-year-old Lehigh Acres man riding a motorcycle was killed in the crash.
Troopers said the pickup truck exited a parking lot access road east of Hanna Avenue North to travel west on Lee Boulevard.
The pickup truck then collided with the motorcyclist while entering the westbound travel lanes of Lee Boulevard.
After that collision, the motorcyclist was then redirected to the eastbound travel lanes and collided with an SUV.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene.
M was booked into the Lee County Jail. He is facing charges for leaving the scene of a crash involving death and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage (three counts).
