A man was arrested after striking an arson investigator during a house fire in Seffner, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced.
HCFR responded to a call of a structure fire at 5:59 a.m. on Friday at 1018 West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
According to HCSO, an arson investigator arrived to determine the source of the fire when the suspect, Maurice Walker, who lives at the residence, struck the investigator in the back with an object.
Walker continued to approach the investigator aggressively which led the investigator to draw his weapon and issue a verbal command.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene at 6:10 a.m. and issued a command to Walker, but he did not comply.
According to HCSO, the deputy deployed his taser twice before being arrested.
Walkers was charged with:
- Battery on a firefighter
- Resisting arrest without violence
The fire is still under investigation.
