A Pinellas Park man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after fatally shooting his wife on Thursday morning.
According to police, officers responded to a reported shooting at 6301 58th St N #404 around 9:20 AM. Upon arrival, they found the suspect, Evangelos Mitrakos, detained at the scene. He admitted to shooting his wife, Leonora Vata.
Medical personnel transported Vata to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Investigators determined that the shooting was the result of a domestic argument. Mitrakos retrieved a firearm and shot his wife multiple times before exiting the residence and contacting authorities.
Mitrakos was arrested and booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
