Man arrested in DeSoto County after allegedly swinging machete at brother during argument

A 23-year-old man was arrested in DeSoto County after allegedly threatening his brother and his brother’s girlfriend with a machete during an argument.

Cameron Evans, 23, is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill after an argument on E Cypress Street in Arcadia.

According to reports, Cameron’s brother told deputies they were having an argument between all four members of the house.

Deputies say during the argument, Cameron grabbed a machete before entering the room and saying, “I will kill you,” to his brother while swinging it as him and his girlfriend.

Cameron’s brother told deputies things never got physical between them and that it was only a verbal argument until the threats with the machete began.

Deputies found the machete by the girlfriend where they say Cameron threw it when he heard police were on the way.

Investigations revealed that Cameron was the primary aggressor in the incident, by brandishing and swinging the machete.

Cameron was arrested and taken to the DeSoto County Jail.
