Man arrested in Miami Beach crime spree, accused of holding commissioner at gunpoint.

A man charged with several crimes that occurred earlier this month in Miami Beach appeared before a Miami-Dade County judge on Tuesday.

Police arrested 35-year-old Christopher Pitre who they say faces serious charges, including aggravated assault with a firearm, burglary and various types of theft.

Pitre appeared in bond court Tuesday afternoon.

He was arrested Monday for a string of crimes committed at several locations throughout Miami Beach.

“We were able to successfully link multiple investigations together,” said Christopher Bess, with the Miami Beach Police Department.

Last week, Local 10 told viewers about an incident that happened at the Maison Grande in the 6000 block of Collins Avenue.

Surveillance video caught a man, who authorities say was Pitre, rummaging through the convenience store, burglarizing vehicles and even stealing a woman’s car.

Pitre was also linked to an e-bike theft on Purdy Avenue, and another e-bike theft near 2600 Collins Ave.

Police believe the same man also held Miami Beach Commissioner Joe Magazine at gunpoint after Pitre was caught sleeping in his car.

“As I was on the phone with 911, this gentleman, in turn, turned around and put a firearm on me,” said Magazine.

Police launched a citywide search for Pitre and found him along Meridian Avenue.

Authorities said he had multiple IDs and credit cards on him that were not his, as well as a gun.

Pitre confessed to his crimes, police said.

“I cannot thank the men and woman of our police department enough,” said Magazine.
