Man charged with aggravated assault on girlfriend after threatening her with a knife

Gainesville police arrested M LZ, 36, just after midnight on Sunday on charges of aggravated assault against his girlfriend.

According to the arrest report, LZ accused the victim of cheating on him before breaking a mirror and placing a Corona beer bottle in her mouth, forcing her to drink it.

Officers say he then hit the victim on her right cheek, which was visibly red, and followed her outside the house with a knife.

The victim’s brother, who lives next door, says he witnessed LZ pull her into the house and later run out holding a knife, prompting him to call the police.

In addition to aggravated assault LZ has also been charged with simple battery.
