Man charged with murder in death of St. Pete woman found in burned home

A man was charged with murder Wednesday in connection with the death of a St. Petersburg woman whose remains were found inside of a burned home in July, according to police.

Ivan Edward, 23, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Kelli Fisher, 42, police said.

Fisher was last seen on July 16 leaving in her aunt’s car. She was reported missing on July 17. On July 18, her car was found abandoned in an empty lot.

Fisher’s remains were found after a fire at a home on Prescott Street South. She was stabbed “numerous” times before the fire, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Edward was an acquaintance of the family and knew Fisher. He had already been in jail since July 29 on unrelated charges of auto theft and armed burglary, police said.
