An investigation is underway in Westchester on Saturday after a man was fatally shot by his landlord, officials said.
The shooting took place at the 9400 block of Southwest 17th Terrace, where deputies found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound.
AL A, 37, was charged with second-degree murder and burglary with armed assault or battery.
He then dragged the victim outside to the backyard and shot him several times in the head, the report said.
After shooting the victim, A returned to the home, adjusted the thermostat and went back to his home, where he called 911 and told dispatchers that he shot the victim in self-defense because he was attacked.
The victim, identified as 57-year-old C A G, was transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Video recorded by a neighbor captured the moment deputies put one man in handcuffs.
NBC6 spoke to several residents in the neighborhood who said deputies have shown up to the home before and that something like this was bound to happen.
Other residents said they heard three gunshots being fired.
“After seconds, I was able to recognize that something wrong was happening in my backyard and I was extremely scared,” said L P, a resident. “I started screaming and I called my husband, ‘Hey go to the backyard because I feel a stranger is in the backyard.’ Then I heard boom, boom, boom, boom.”
P’s home sits behind the suspect’s home.
“I feel like the noise was inside my house, she said.
NBC6 has reached out to MDSO to see if and how many times deputies have shown up to the home.
