Man dead after crashing into Collier County canal


A man is dead after he crashed into a Collier County canal on Sunday near Camp Keais Road.

The Florida Highway Patrol states a 42-year-old Ave Maria man was in critical condition when he was taken to a local hospital after losing control of his car.

He drove into the grass, then the canal, before becoming submerged in water.

The man was pronounced dead on Tuesday.

FHP states this crash remains under investigation.
