A man died and a child suffered minor injuries in two separate incidents off Madeira Beach on Wednesday.
Pinellas County deputies were called to the area of 13000 Gulf Boulevard just before 3 p.m.
They first assisted with the rescue of a 10-year-old boy that was swept out into the ocean. He was brought back to shore with minor injuries.
A 63-year-old Kentucky man, identified as Wade Scroggins, was rescued after falling off of a jet ski.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital after bystanders pulled him back to shore.
