Man dies after being shot while driving in Pembroke Pines: Police

A man was shot and killed as he was driving early Saturday in Pembroke Pines, according to police.

The fatal shots were fired at around 12:56 a.m. at 11700 Sheridan Street, Pembroke Pines police said.

Detectives believe two cars were driving recklessly along Sheridan Street when “an occupant from one vehicle fired shots at the driver” of a Nissan Altima.

When authorities arrived, they found the Nissan crashed and the driver shot.

The victim, whose name was not immediately provided, was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died, police said.

A neighbor told NBC6 that he had just gotten home Saturday morning when he heard the gunshots, but didn’t know what the sounds were at the time. He’s lives one street over from Sheridan Street.

“Little did we know in the morning, we got the news alert on NBC and we were like oh my God that’s behind our house,” he explained. “Kind of shocking to see that so close and near to home, especially with kids to hear gunshots.”

The resident described the neighborhood as quiet. He, like many of his neighbors, is now concerned.

“Sometimes there’s altercations, there’s way to work it out, gunshots is not the way to go, but some people resort to fix things in different ways and it’s just unfortunate,” he said.
