Man dies after being struck by St. Johns County Sheriff patrol car

A 27-year-old man died after he was struck by a St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office patrol SUV in St. Johns County on Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Officials said at 12:12 a.m., the SUV was traveling south on US-1, just south of Shore Drive when the man walked directly into the path of the SUV, resulting in a collision.

Investigators said the man sustained life-threatening injuries and he was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.
