A 25-year-old man is dead after a car crashed into a canal early Thursday morning in a wildlife refuge area in Brevard County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2 a.m. along Blackpoint Wildlife Drive, just south of L Pond Road.
Troopers say the sedan was traveling northbound when the driver missed a curve, his car went off the road, and overturned into a canal.
The car was then completely submerged, coming to rest on its roof in the water.
The 25-year-old driver from Titusville was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 43-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
