Man dies during crash with abandoned semi-trailer in Broward

A 70-year-old man died on Sunday morning after crashing into an abandoned semi-trailer in Broward County.

The man was driving a silver 2012 Nissan Rogue northbound on U.S. 27 when he crashed into the parked 2005 18-wheel semi-trailer at mile marker 33, just north of Interstate 75, at about 3:40 a.m., in unincorporated Fort Lauderdale, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers.

Troopers reported they were investigating how the man from Clewiston, Fla., “veered off the road to the right” and “entered on the outside shoulder” colliding with the rear left of the semi-trailer and bouncing back in the outside lane facing east.

Fire rescue personnel pronounced the man dead at about 3:45 a.m., according to FHP.
