Man dies in crash between motorcycle and SUV in Hernando County, officials say

A man was killed after crashing into a car while riding his motorcycle Thursday night, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened just after 4 p.m. in Hernando County. FHP said a 44-year-old Brooksville man driving a Chevy Equinox was going eastbound on Ayers Road and started to turn left at the intersection of US 41.

At the same time, a 45-year-old Spring Hill man, who was driving a Honda motorcycle, was traveling westbound on Ayers Road. That’s when he struck the SUV, which FHP said was in “the path of” the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist died at the scene, officials said. The man driving the SUV did not suffer any injuries.
