A motorcyclist died Monday night after their bike crashed with a semi-truck on the city’s Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police said the crash took place at the intersection of Normandy Boulevard and Verna Boulevard around 8:21 p.m.
The motorcyclist was headed west on Normandy Boulevard while the semi was heading east on the same roadway. The semi was in the center lane, the motorcycle was driving in the inside lane, JSO said.
Police said the vehicles crashed into each other in the inside lane.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital by Jacksonville Fire Rescue crews, where he later died, the agency said.
JSO said it is unclear at this time if the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, and that the driver of the semi-truck is cooperating with the investigation.
This crash marks the 130th traffic death in Duval County in 2025 and the 33rd involving a motorcycle.
The roadway will be shut down for about an hour as the investigation unfolds, police said.
