A man is facing attempted murder charges after being accused of attacking another person inside a Fort Myers Publix in Lee Wednesday night. A bystander intervened and detained the suspect until law enforcement arrived.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, officers responded to a call at 8:40 p.m. at the Publix Supermarket at the intersection of SR-82 and Lee Boulevard, where they found a victim who had been attacked without provocationOfficers said the suspect, GS, 18, followed the victim around the store before launching the assault.

A good Samaritan who witnessed the attack restrained Solomon until officers arrived.

After investigating the incident and assessing the severity of the victim’s injuries, authorities determined that S acted with disregard for human life, leading to a potential attempted second-degree murder charge.

Officials have not released details regarding the condition of the victim. S was taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
