Man in critical condition after being shot by passenger inside moving car on Atlantic Blvd.

JSO arrested the suspected shooter

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was transported to a hospital in critical condition early Tuesday after he was shot while riding in a moving car on Atlantic Boulevard, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Around 3:30 a.m., detectives responded to Atlantic Blvd. near St. Johns Bluff Road North after receiving reports of a man who had been shot.

According to JSO, the initial investigation revealed the man and four other people were traveling in the same car. Then, the man and one of the occupants began to argue verbally, and later turned into a physical altercation.

Police said that during the fight, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired one single shot in the direction of the man and struck him in the neck.

The driver stopped immediately after the shooting and called 911, according to police.

Officers responded to the scene and detained everyone involved.

After interviewing all parties involved, the suspect, who was not identified by police, was arrested.
