A 48-year-old Casselberry man was struck and killed Sunday night in Orange County when a driver struck his wheelchair and fled the scene, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The fatal wreck happened around 9 p.m. on State Road 436 near State Road 50, east of downtown Orlando.
The FHP said a vehicle, described by a witness as a dark-colored sedan, was southbound on S.R. 436 and struck the man, who was traveling west in a wheelchair and was not in a marked crosswalk.
The man was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead, the FHP said.
The sedan took off after the crash, according to an FHP crash report.
