Man killed, 2 teens injured in Lake County crash, Florida Highway Patrol says

A 30-year-old Dunnellon man was killed in a crash late Saturday in Lake County with a sedan that veered into his lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 11:40 p.m. on State Road 19, south of Arrowtree Boulevard, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, a 2020 Audi A3 carrying two occupants — a 17-year-old boy driving and a 17-year-old girl riding as a passenger, both of Groveland — was traveling southbound on S.R. 19 as a 2013 Ford Mustang driven by the Dunnellon man traveled north.

The boy veered into the northbound lane and in the direct path of the Mustang, causing the left of the Audi to strike the left of the Ford, the report states.

The Mustang ran off the roadway to the right and struck a ditch, according to FHP.

The Dunnellon man was pronounced dead at the scene, the report states. Troopers believe he was not wearing a seat belt during the crash.

The teens in the Audi were both hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.
