Man killed after being struck by driver in Fort Lauderdale, police say

A man was killed early Wednesday after being struck by a driver in Fort Lauderdale, police said.

Fort Lauderdale police said officers responded at about 5:03 a.m. to a crash involving a pedestrian in the 2100 block of Northwest 21st Avenue.

Officers said they found a man at the scene and began life-saving measures. They said Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel later pronounced him dead at the scene.

Authorities said the driver remained at the scene, and FLPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash.

No other details about the victim were immediately released.
