Man killed after boat crashed into rocks on the Peace River near Fishermen's Village Saturday

A was killed after crashing a boat into a rock jetty in the Peace River near Fishermen’s Village Marina on Saturday night.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, officials responded to the scene of a crash at around 9:07 p.m. FWC said that Nicholas Knowlton, 27, was operating a boat in the Peace River.

Boat crashed into a rock jetty, which ejected Knowlton. Officers with the Punta Gorda Police Department and bystanders pulled Knowlton out of the water and attempted life-saving measures, but he was later declared dead, FWC said.

The crash is still under investigation.
