Man killed after collision with Brightline train.

The West Palm Beach Police Department announced Tuesday afternoon a man was killed during an incident with a passenger train.

A West Palm Beach Police Department spokesperson confirmed to WPBF 25 News a man was struck and killed by a train. The spokesperson noted that the person attempted to dart across the gates and beat the train before it passed through.

The train was traveling northbound at 34 mph, with its horns blaring and flashing lights functioning properly.

The incident occurred at the train crossing in front of the Palm Beach County courthouse on Third Street. The road between North Quadrille and Rosemary Avenue was closed for a period of time because of the incident.
