Man killed in crash with concrete pole on Florida’s Turnpike near SR-528

A 35-year-old Auburndale man was killed Friday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wreck happened around 1:10 a.m. on Florida’s Turnpike near State Road 528.

The FHP said the man was driving a 2014 Honda Accord south on the Turnpike exit ramp to S.R. 528 when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck a concrete pole head-on.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

An FHP crash report stated that the man was wearing a seat belt.

No other details have been released.
