The pilot of a small plane was killed when the plane crashed at an airfield in northwest Orange County Saturday morning.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirms the Aero AT-4 light sport aircraft crashed while taking off from Bob White Field Airport near Zellwood at around 10:45 a.m. Saturday.

That’s on West Jones Avenue off U.S. Highway 441, not far from the Orange-Lake County border.

The pilot was the only person on board.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
