Man killed when car strikes motorcycle from behind on County Road 25 in Marion County

A 47-year-old Belleview man was killed early Monday when his motorcycle was struck from behind by a car on County Road 25 in Marion County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The fatal two-vehicle wreck happened around 2:55 a.m. on County Road 25 at SE 108th Terrace Road.

The FHP said the motorcyclist was traveling east on C.R. 25 when a car driven by a 21-year-old Ocklawaha man struck the back of his bike.

The motorcycle was forced off the road and crashed, and the Belleview man was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The car driver was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to an FHP crash report.

C.R. 25 was blocked in the area after the crash.

No other details have been released.
