Man leaving Magnolia Gardens convenience store shot in the legs: JSO

A man, who Jacksonville police believe was not the intended target, was shot while leaving a convenience store on Tuesday in the Magnolia Gardens neighborhood.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, around 6:45 p.m., the man was leaving a Quickway Food Store on West 45th Street when someone started shooting at him.

The shooter ran from the scene.

The man was hit in both legs and taken to the hospital in nonlife-threatening condition.

JSO said it believed that the injured man was not the initial target because the shooter had an issue with someone else who was inside the store before the incident.

Police did not provide any information on the shooter, but they are talking with witnesses and canvassing the scene for video footage.
