A man said he was stabbed early Wednesday by a roommate at what appears to be a group home in Lauderhill, according to police.
Lauderhill police said they responded to the home in the area of Northwest 26th Street and Northwest 44th at around 4:19 a.m., after they got calls from occupants and the victim himself about being stabbed by a roommate.
Authorities found the victim, a 30-year-old man, outside the residence suffering from a stab wound to the chest.
He was taken to Broward General Medical Center while still conscious and breathing, police said.
Officers ordered everyone inside the home to get out, “including the alleged adult male suspect, who was detained at the scene.”
“Initial reports were that the suspect was allegedly barricaded, however that was inaccurate as officers on scene were still trying to figure out the identities of those occupants inside the house,” Lt. Antonio Gonzalez said.
That suspect’s name was not immediately released.
As for what led to the stabbing, a “preliminary investigation suggests the incident involved an altercation between two adult males,” but additional details are “still being investigated,” police said.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to contact the Lauderhill Police Department.
