Man sentenced to 25 years for trying to stab officer during child sexual assault arrest

 A wanted fugitive out of Okaloosa County was sentenced to 25 years in prison for attempting to stab a member of the US Marshals Service Task Force during his arrest.

Steven Alexander Jamison, 22, was apprehended in November 2023 on a felony warrant out of Okaloosa County. He was facing charges of sexual assault on a child and child abuse.

During the arrest, Jamison attempted to stab a member of the USMS Task Force multiple times. However, the knife failed to penetrate the officer’s protective vest, leaving the officer unharmed.

Jamison was sentenced to 25 years in the Florida Department of Corrections, with a minimum mandatory sentence of five years for aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
