A man was shot Friday morning after attempting to force his way into a home and threatening the people inside, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
HCSO responded to a home on the 3400 block of Gentry Road around 1:39 a.m. regarding a domestic complaint.
Deputies arrived and learned that the man was trying to force his way into the home and threaten the people inside. A female victim came outside, and the man began physically assaulting her, HCSO said.
A man who was at the home then fired several shots at the suspect.
The man who was shot then drove himself to South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, where deputies made contact with him.
According to HCSO, he is currently undergoing surgery and is expected to survive his injuries.
