Man shot and killed in Hallandale Beach domestic-related incident

Man shot and killed in Hallandale Beach domestic-related incident

A man was shot and killed early Saturday morning in Hallandale Beach in what police say was a domestic-related incident.

Officers with the Hallandale Beach Police Department responded to the 300 block of Northeast Third Street after reports of gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, police said they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency crews began life-saving measures, but the victim later died at a nearby hospital.

Investigators said one of the individuals involved was familiar with the victim and is cooperating with police.

Crime scene investigators spent hours at the Artsquare at Hallandale apartments, where part of the area leading into the building was taped off as detectives collected evidence.

Neighbors said they woke up to a heavy police presence and were stunned by the sight of crime scene tape and bloodstains near their doors.

One resident, Ulysses Ramirez, said his family recently moved into the building but has lived in the Hallandale Beach neighborhood for more than two decades.

Police have not released the victim’s name at this time and the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
