The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide Monday morning.
Officials say the shooting took place around 2:51 a.m. in an empty lot near 4016 Old Dixie Highway, not far from the Players Pool Lounge in Gifford.
The sheriff’s office says hundreds of cars lined Old Dixie Highway by the lounge and the Kool Kuts Barber Shop when several shots were heard. When officials responded to the area, they found an adult man unresponsive with several gunshot wounds.
First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
IRSO will not be releasing the victim’s name at this time.
